1. What is an "echo"?

Fetal scanningAn "echo" is a common name for an ultrasound scan.

A "fetal echocardiogram" is an ultrasound scan of a developing baby's heart in the womb and is often performed around 20 weeks gestation. 

At this stage the heart is about the size of a pea!
