We’re delighted to have won a £1,000 Movement for Good award from Ecclesiastical thanks to nominations from the public.
We are one of 500 winners in specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards, which is giving £1million to charities this summer.
These are uncertain times. Babies with congenital heart defects will still be diagnosed. This £1000 award will help us to support those babies and their families who are living with congenital heart disease whilst also navigating this global pandemic. £1000 will help ensure that we can respond to parent enquiries, offer support and comfort, and continue sending information packs and resources to families who have a diagnosis of serious heart problems.

These resources inform families and include information about the journey ahead such as; what it means for their baby and immediate family, what to expect, questions to ask their care team, stories from other families, support available (including benefits), and advice on other important issues e.g. dental care and treatment.
Members of the public were invited to nominate causes close to their hearts, with 500 gifts of £1,000 in the running. 13,695 charities were nominated by an amazing 253,879 members of the public.
Katie Lawson, head of fundraising at Tiny Tickers said, “We, like many other small charities, are experiencing high levels of demand, whilst our current and future income has severely reduced. We are so incredibly grateful for this award which will help us to continue supporting those who are battling serious heart conditions and facing difficult decisions in part due to the current pandemic. Cancelled surgeries & outpatient appointments, support being given at arms length and families being split due to changes in hospital visiting rules; are just some of the challenges that families are having to face, during very emotional and distressing times.”
Mark Hews, group chief executive at Ecclesiastical, said: “We would like to thank every single person who took the time to nominate a good cause as part of our Movement for Good awards. Ecclesiastical is a unique financial services group. We are owned by a charity which means all available profits can be given to the good causes that are so important to our customers. As a company whose purpose is to contribute to the greater good of society, charitable giving is at the heart of our business. We know that £1,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work that charities do and we’re looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better.”
Thank you Ecclesiastical. The ‘normal’ treatment of congenital heart defects is tough enough. Now the need has never been higher, just as the journey gets that bit more difficult.
