Ella tragically passed away when she was three and a half months old. Her heart-broken parents, Leah and Joe, share their brave daughter’s story:
Ella was born on the 6th July 2021, weighing 8lb 3oz. Her heart defects were picked up and diagnosed at her 20-week scan. She was diagnosed with four major heart defects: tricuspid atresia, transposition of the great arteries (TGA), coarctation of the aorta and a ventricular septal defect (VSD).

She had open heart surgery at just six days old and recovered well – she was the strongest baby out there and was thriving.
Ella had the most cheeky personality and smile – she was perfect.
Tragically, and unexpectedly, she passed away on the 23rd October 2021, which broke us as it was so unexpected. She was doing so well.
We lost our little angel.

Grief is strange. It’s like a wave – all of a sudden it will hit you out of nowhere. Grief is a hard thing to explain to anyone because one day you’re fine and the next day you’re breaking down.
I’m glad we got three and a half months with our baby girl, as we remember the happy times and the memories we got to make in the short time we had with her. We just wish we’d had longer.
Ella is the brightest star in the sky and an angel. She will be missed so much, but she will always be watching us.
