After ten magical days at home, Arthur suddenly went into heart failure. He was diagnosed with SVT and aortic stenosis. This is his story, told by his mum, Zoe.
Arthur had an incredible first ten days at home, meeting his new family and settling into newborn life. We had ten “normal” days as a family of five, until the unimaginable happened… Our lives were shaken and completely turned upside down…
He went into heart failure at ten days old, and was transferred to NICU, where he was diagnosed with SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) and aortic stenosis. Arthur’s heart defect is manageable, until he is fit enough for surgery.

Arthur is now on two different medications, three times a day, while he waits for his heart surgery. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Ronald McDonald house while Arthur was being treated. We are forever grateful for all the love and help we have received from Tiny Tickers, and all the wonderful cardiologists, doctors and nurses – we owe you everything!

If we had known before birth that Arthur was going to have a heart defect and suffer with SVT, we could have been prepared. We would have been in the right place for the help he needed. If we’d known sooner, we would have never experienced the ordeal of thinking we had lost our boy.
