Friday 6th October 2023 was Global’s Make Some Noise Day. And what a day it was for our small charity!
At the time of writing, the appeal has raised almost £2 million for a number of small charities across the UK. Tiny Tickers was delighted to be chosen as one of Make Some Noise’s charities for 2023. The funds and awareness raised from the appeal will make a huge difference to the support we can give to babies with serious heart conditions, their families and the health professionals who care for them.
It’s important to acknowledge the contribution of all the heart families who shared their stories on Heart, Capital and other radio stations. Their ability to share their stories so emotionally and impactfully has made all the difference. They have bought our work to life, showing how congenital heart disease (CHD) impacts families and how crucial early detection is for heart babies. These families have raised so much awareness about CHD and how Tiny Tickers helps; we have already seen many new heart parents reach out to us for support after listening to the appeal on the radio.
Our Head of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement, Gaynor, and supporter, Kelsey, spoke to Heart’s Emma and Dixie about their experiences of CHD and Tiny Tickers’ work.
Emma, Perry and little Barney, visited Global HQ in London to record audio for the appeal. They shared their experience of finding out Barney had CHD before he was born and how Tiny Tickers supported their family.
Our Head of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement, Gaynor, says: “When we were chosen to be part of this year’s Global Make Some Noise appeal, we were all so thrilled. We knew it would make such a difference to the families we support and we were delighted that so many more heart families will know where to turn for support.
“I don’t think any of us ever expected the immediate impact that the coverage and interviews would have. We’ve seen new heart families reaching out to us each day and an incredible response from the public, with so many wonderful messages of support.
“While today has been one of excitement and celebration, we’re already looking firmly to the future and the extra support we can now offer families who find themselves with a diagnosis of CHD for their baby. Our whole team sends our most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Make Some Noise for this wonderful opportunity and to the brave and kind families who generously shared their own CHD journeys.”
Make Some Noise has been truly transformational for our tiny charity, giving us a platform we could never normally hope to have access to. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Make Some Noise for their support in promoting our cause.
