We are super excited to announce that our 10th Heart Week has managed to raise an incredible £39,300! Here, our Head of Fundraising and Partnerships, Kym Kitching, shares her thanks and discusses just how much this means to our charity:
2024 marked the 10th anniversary of all things Heart Week. For an entire decade now, you have come together every February to celebrate and honour heart heroes across the UK. And this year has been no exception.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of our amazing supporters (that’s YOU!), we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve now raised over £39,300 – yeah, you heard that right, £39,300!
To each and every one of you who laced up those running shoes, whipped up a storm in the kitchen, shared your story, or got creative with your fundraising ideas – from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! Your enthusiasm, your passion, your sheer determination – it’s what makes Heart Week so special.
But wait, there’s more!
Let’s talk impact. Because those pounds and pence? They’re not just numbers on a screen – they’re making a real, tangible difference in the lives of babies and families affected by poorly hearts. Your fundraising efforts mean more life-saving equipment, more sonographer training, more support for families… more lives changed.
But hey, don’t just take our word for it. Let’s break it down:
£10 may seem like a drop in the ocean, but it’s enough to provide a sonography department with a Tiny Tickers situs doll, helping to diagnose heart conditions during routine scans.
The average bake sale raises around £70, that’s the cost to train one sonographer to better detect heart conditions during routine pregnancy scans, giving babies the best chance at a healthy start in life.
And how about £725? That’s enough to provide a pulse oximetry testing kit, helping to detect heart conditions in newborn babies before they even leave the hospital.
Pretty amazing, right? That’s the power of your support in action.
