Two-year-old heart patient, Violet, will be featured on the big screen in Times Square, New York.
Violet was was diagnosed with Down syndrome and a serious congenital heart defect during pregnancy, and her parents were advised to prepare for the worst.
Against the odds, Violet survived birth, underwent major heart surgery at eight months old, and continues to face ongoing health challenges with remarkable resilience. Now 28 months old, she’s thriving despite global developmental delays and silent aspiration. Read her story here.
Violet, along with 500 others, has been selected (out of over 2,600 entries) to appear in a video in Times Square, New York on the 6th September 2025.
The video is part of the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Times Square Video Presentation. The one-hour video of over 500 photographs includes children, teens and adults with Down syndrome from all 50 US states and 11 countries across the world. These collective images highlight individuals with Down syndrome in the most visible way – on two screens in the heart of Times Square.
Violet’s mum, Rebecca, says she is delighted that her daughter was selected to appear in the video. The family from Chelmsford is looking forward to watching the livestream on the NDSS Facebook page from 9:30-10:30am ET on September 6th.
