When we talk about 1 in 100 babies being born with a serious heart condition in the UK, it can be easy to think of it as just a statistic.
But behind that number are real people. Someone’s daughter. Someone’s son. A brother, sister, cousin, grandchild or friend. Every one of them has a place in the world, and every one of them matters.
That’s why, a little while ago, we asked our Tiny Tickers families to send us a short video of their heart hero saying “I am 1 in 100”.
The response was incredibly special.
The video brings together clips of some of the 1 in 100 who are with us today, alongside those who are no longer with us but will always be in our hearts. Together, they remind us that the 1 in 100 is so much more than a number.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to every heart hero and family who took the time to send us their video and be part of this. Seeing so many faces come together to represent the 1 in 100 is a powerful reminder of exactly who our work is here for.
Why The 100 Challenge matters
The 100 Challenge is about turning a statistic into action.
This October, people across the UK will be taking on their own 100 Challenge to raise money for Tiny Tickers and help us continue supporting babies and children born with serious heart conditions, as well as their families.
Whether you choose to walk 100 miles, bake 100 cakes, complete 100 laps or come up with something completely your own, every challenge helps us make a difference to the 1 in 100.
Because behind every number is a person.
And these are the people we’re here for.
Will you join us this October?
Take on your own 100 Challenge and help make a difference to the 1 in 100.
