Helping Hearts FAQs
Thank you for supporting our Helping Hearts Appeal. If you have any questions about the appeal, which are not covered below, please email our team at email@example.com.
1. How much does a hug cost?
It costs just £10 for us to send one family a support pack, containing information, advice and support they’ll need following their child’s diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD). In the pack, we will include a hug button and your message of support (optional).
2. How can I donate?
You can donate via our website here.
Or, text HEARTHUGS to 70085 to donate £10. Texts cost £10 plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to give £10 but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text HEARTHUGSNOINFO to 70085.
3. How do I send a message for a heart family?
Please fill out the message box within the online donate form when you are donating. If you have any problems or need to change your message please email firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us your name. If you donate via text please email us with your name, mobile number and message so that we can identify your donation.
4. Can I give more than one hug?
Of course! It costs us £10 to send a family a support information pack. Approximately 6000 babies and families are diagnosed with CHD every year. The more support we can give the better.
5. Can I choose who I give my hug to?
Unfortunately, we are unable to send buttons to specific recipients. But we guarantee your hug will be sent to a heart parent who needs one.
6. I would love a hug button. Can I buy one?
Sorry, but the buttons are not for sale.
7. Will the hug button fit into a pocket?
Yes these buttons measure 46mm across – so they are small enough for parents to carry with them in a pocket or bag.
8. I’m a heart parent and I’d like to order a family support pack – what do I do?
You can order a family information pack here.
9. What’s in a support pack, as well as a hug button?
Our support pack contains our two information booklets, ‘Some things we’d like to tell you about congenital heart defects’ and ‘Some things we’d like you to know about going into hospital’, an introductory letter with links to more resources (for example, our family experience videos and an invitation to join our Facebook parent and carer support community), a colouring sheet for siblings and more information about our charity and a pair of bonding squares, which can be used in hospital (subject to availability).
