Our Specialist Trainers

I am the Consultant Clinical Scientist in Leeds and specialise in fetal and congenital echocardiography.

I qualified in 1987 as a cardiac physiologist in Nottingham and obtained my MSc in Medical Imaging in 1998. I moved to Leeds in 1996 to pursue my passion for congenital echocardiography in a tertiary centre.

I hold BSE and EACVI accreditation in adult and congenital echo. In 2019 I was instrumental in developing the BSE congenital echo accreditation for which I am the specialist lead.

I have been involved in teaching fetal echo to the obstetric sonographers at Leeds University on the PgCert since 2005. At this time, I also became involved with Tiny Tickers. In 2015, Sam Bainbridge and I worked with Tiny Tickers to provide a pilot training model for the Yorkshire and Humber region, which has subsequently been rolled out across the UK.

I’ve been a regular trainer for Tiny Tickers, supporting sonographer education across the country and am passionate about supporting obstetric sonographers to increase the antenatal detection of CHD in the UK.

I’m also an active fundraiser for Tiny Tickers, completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, the Great North Run and the London Marathon.

I work as a cardiac sonographer, specialising in fetal, paediatric and adult congenital echocardiography in Leeds. I have worked for more than 35 years and remain passionate about the service that I am involved in.

I have a BSc (hons),MSc Medical Ultrasound, British Society of Echocardiography accreditation and European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging Congenital Echo accreditation.

I joined the team at Tiny Tickers more than eight years ago, and have visited hospitals across the country to deliver hands-on-training. I feel this is a really important service that is appreciated by the sonography teams who want to provide the best service to their patients. I look forward to continuing to be involved with Tiny Tickers and visiting more hospitals.

I’m a sonographer with 40 years of scanning experience.

I have worked in most areas of ultrasound practice, but my specialist area of interest is fetal heart scanning.

I’ve been a specialist trainer for Tiny Tickers since 2015. Training sessions for Tiny Tickers have taken me all over the UK, from Aberdeen to Northern Ireland, and also to Jersey.

I aim to make our sessions inclusive, enjoyable and accessible to sonographers with all levels of knowledge and ability. Our aim is to encourage all sonographers to be confident in the normal anatomy and function of the heart and to recognise the abnormal.

I am a Midwife Sonographer with a specialist interest in fetal cardiology, with over 20 years of ultrasound experience.

I have a BSc in Midwifery and an MSc in Medical Ultrasound and have been working in fetal cardiology since 2012. I am currently the lead sonographer for the fetal cardiology service covering the South West of England.

I am passionate about training sonographers in better improving the antenatal detection of congenital heart defects. I have been actively involved since 2015 in providing specialist fetal cardiac training at local, national and international levels. Firstly, as part of the Public Health England Cardiac Screening Programme and subsequently as a trainer for Tiny Tickers and as part of my fetal cardiology role.

I am a consultant cardiac physiologist and specialise in fetal and congenital echocardiography. My career has so far spanned over 20 years, and I love what I do.

I have a BSc (hons) in Clinical Physiology (cardiology), an MSc in Advanced Practice (medical ultrasound) and a Doctorate in Clinical Sciences. I also hold my EACVI congenital echo accreditation.

I became involved with Tiny Tickers because I heard such great things about their training programme and have seen first-hand the positive impact it can make.

I originally qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in 2006, then went on to get a postgraduate diploma in ultrasound in 2009.

I have 15 years of experience working as a qualified sonographer in the NHS. I also completed my Master of Laws (LLM) in Medical Law and Ethics, and now work two days a week as a Senior Sonographer at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Tiny Tickers have continued to be a great source of support with training sessions throughout my career, and I have always appreciated their visits.

I’m a midwife and trained as a sonographer eight years ago.

I’ve spent much of my career scanning in fetal medicine and have been privileged to work alongside fetal cardiologists for the last five years.

My role includes performing detailed screening echoes for patients at increased risk of having a baby with CHD, as well as scanning alongside the consultants to diagnose and plan care for patients who have fetal CHD confirmed.

I’m also trained in first-trimester echo and screen patients from 12 weeks.

I am passionate about detecting CHD before birth to optimise outcomes for patients and their families, and I’m very excited to work with such an amazing charity as Tiny Tickers.

Karolina graduated in Anatomy and Cell Biology from Liverpool University and went on to train as a Pediatric Cardiac Physiologist at Great Ormond Street. In 2010, she joined the team at Evelina London, where she currently works as the Lead Fetal Cardiac Echocardiographer and Senior Chief Pediatric Cardiac Physiologist.

She has also been the physiologist representative on the British Congenital Cardiac Council and is a co-author of the Congenital Heart HSST (Higher Specialist Scientist Training) on the Modernising Scientific Careers program. Her special interests lie in fetal cardiology, advanced echo imaging and fetal medicine.
